Optical Device Solution Applied to Optical Fiber Access Network
With the rapid development of communication technology, telecommunications services are developing in the direction of integration, digitization, intelligence, broadband and personalization. People's demand for diversification of telecommunications services is also increasing. At the same time, due to the increasing maturity and use of backbone online optical transmission technology, It has laid the foundation for the realization of "three-line integration of voice, data, and image, and one-line home. How to make full use of existing network resources to increase business types and improve service quality has become a topic of increasing concern to telecom experts and operators. The "last mile" solution is the focus of everyone's greatest concern. Therefore, access network has become a hot spot in network application and construction, especially optical fiber access network.
optical fiber access network is an access network that uses optical fiber as the transmission medium and light waves as the optical carrier to transmit signals. It generally refers to an access system that uses optical fiber communication or partially uses optical fiber communication between service nodes (local switches or remote switching modules) and users. According to the main types of optical devices in transmission facilities, optical fiber access networks are divided into active Optical networks (Active optical Network, AON for short) and passive optical networks (Passive Optical Network, PON for short).
AON consists of an optical line terminal (Optical Line Terminal, referred to as OLT), an optical network unit (Optical Network Unit, referred to as ONU), an optical distribution terminal (Optical Distribution Terminal, referred to as ODT) and an optical fiber transmission line. Active optical devices, such as optical modules, are used in transmission facilities. PON refers to the optical distribution network (Optical Distribution Network, referred to as ODN) between OLT and ONU, which is mainly composed of passive optical components such as optical fiber, optical connector, passive optical splitter (optical splitter) and optical fiber connector, without any active electronic equipment. PON is a pure medium network, which avoids the electromagnetic interference and lightning effects of external equipment, reduces the failure rate of lines and external equipment, improves system reliability, and saves maintenance costs.
